#05: DFW (again), #03: Chicago and #02: L.A. over the past year.
More changes from these markets over the past year.
I had to return to the DFW Metroplex but will also go to Chicagoland and Los Angeles.
First off, someone informed me that KXAS cut their weekday morning news at 4:30 a.m. as well, joining KTVT in the market in doing so. Their morning news now runs from 5:00-7:00 a.m.
Next, going to Chicago where WBBM is doing the opposite. They’re expanding their weekday morning news at 9:00 a.m. to an hour which began last week on Monday, September 11th. CBS News Chicago at 9:00 a.m. now airs from 9:00-10:00 a.m. and competes against WGN (Ind) and WFLD (FOX)’s morning news at that time as well. Drew Barrymore has since moved to 2:00 p.m.
Finally, we go to Los Angeles where KTLA has added YET ANOTHER HOUR to its newscast schedule. This time, it has added an hour-long weekday newscast at 4:00 p.m. back on February 20th of this year. With the KTLA 5 News at 4:00, it now creates a four-hour block of local news from 3:00-7:00 p.m., but this is in addition to their nonstop news coverage from 4:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., KTLA’s daily talk program Off The Clock from 2:00-3:00 p.m., and their lifestyle program L.A. Unscripted at 7:00 p.m.
The next post is the finale! And of course, its New York City. Finally, after more than a week of catching up with you over the past year, the #1 market will stand all alone. Stay tuned for that one.
